Day 14: October 29, 2024

Acts 14:15-17 ESV

“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them. 16In past generations he allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. 17Yet he did not leave himself without witness, for he did good by giving you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”

Acts 14 is an interesting read. Human nature has not changed. Instead of doing what was ‘right in the sight of the Lord’ the Greeks and Jews were stirred up in their minds; the Apostle Paul had to remind them to return to the living God.

Not only choosing to think and desiring to do what is upright is vital, but BEING in a right relationship with a living God is still God’s mandate and command for the nations. As we enter the “Election” season, let us consider the privilege that God has given to us to remain in right standing and “be His witness” by receiving a shower of His blessing as we acknowledge the righteousness that He extends to us.

Isaiah spoke these words of exhortation to a rebellious and wayward nation of his time, “Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the Lord have created it. “

(Isaiah 45:8). Pardon this pun, but today may we cry out to our dry and weary land, “Lord reign on us! We want to live out Your Righteousness to this nation.”

Thought for the day: Consider the ways you open your life and allow His blessings to SOAK in so that you can bear fruit to those in your sphere of influence.
