"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God's will. And we know that all things work together for good, for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose, because those whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that his Son should be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called. And those he called, he also justified. And those he justified, he also glorified.”
Sermon Summary
Disappointment and hardship often leave us feeling weak, capable of little more than an unspoken, guttural groan. Yet, in Romans 8:26–30, Pastor Chris highlights the profound truth that God is always at work in and through us. We are not expected to navigate life’s trials in our own strength or self-reliance; God doesn't just command us or change us—He partners with us. Even when we do not know how or what to pray in the midst of our pain, the Holy Spirit steps in to pick up our groaning, interceding directly before God the Father in perfect alignment with His divine will.
Furthermore, Paul provides an unwavering anchor: God works all things together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. This is not a promise of instant earthly comfort, material wealth, or trivializing life's deep pain. Rather, God’s defined "good" is transforming and conforming us into the very image of His Son, Jesus. Through the "golden chain" of redemption—being foreknown in intimate covenantal relationship, predestined, called, justified, and ultimately glorified—our security rests completely in God's business. Because God’s promises are unbreakable, our future is absolute lock-solid secure.
