Born is the King!

Dec 24, 2025    Pastor Chris Sherwood

This Christmas message confronts us with a profound paradox: the King of Kings arrived not with armies and conquest, but in humility and obscurity. We're challenged to examine whether we truly recognize Jesus's authority in our lives, or if we've merely adopted a comfortable cultural Christianity that requires nothing of us. The sermon draws from John 18 and Philippians 2, reminding us that Jesus's kingdom operates by different rules than earthly powers—it's built on truth, sacrifice, and willing submission. The question 'Are you the king?' echoes through the centuries to reach us today. Many of us sit in churches on Christmas Eve claiming faith, yet living as if we're still our own kings, making our own rules, pursuing our own agendas. This message calls us back to the radical reality that Christmas celebrates: God became flesh to transfer us from the kingdom of darkness into His kingdom of light. It's an invitation to those who've wandered away to return, and to those who've never truly surrendered to finally bend the knee. The beauty of Christmas isn't just that a baby was born—it's that the King arrived to offer us redemption and restoration of relationship with God Himself.
